Kelvion Ltd, a leading international heating and cooling manufacturer, faced a major organisational shift with the closure of its manufacturing site in Fareham, Hampshire. This decision impacted 114 employees as operations were relocated to Europe.

The Challenge

The closure affected a wide range of roles, including: Technical Operatives, Stores and Logistics Staff, Supervisors, Engineers, Production Planners, Sourcing Specialists, Finance and HR Professionals, Senior Leaders.

Many employees had been with the company for 10-20 years and had little to no experience in job searching, writing CVs or attending interviews. Kelvion engaged Career Matters prior to the announcement to design a robust outplacement programme, ensuring support was in place and ready to begin three months before the first wave of redundancies.

Two on-site career fairs were organised and attended by:

Senior leaders received personalised executive coaching, aligned with their unique career aspirations and goals, to prepare them for high-level opportunities.

The Outcome

The outplacement programme equipped employees with the skills and confidence to navigate the job market, despite the challenges of transitioning after long tenures. Feedback from participants highlighted the value of both the group workshops and individualised support, while the career fairs provided direct access to local opportunities and resources.

Senior leaders particularly appreciated the tailored executive coaching, which helped them position themselves for leadership roles in competitive markets.
