Social Impact

Community
Having a positive impact on people and the wider community is important to us.
Wellbeing and ‘Giving Something Back’ is at the heart of what we do, as well as regularly meeting partners to create a sense of purpose and belonging.
Four key areas of Giving Back, enabling Wellbeing, supporting Inclusion and Diversity, and being conscious about our Environment and Sustainability, show that commitment.
Wellbeing
We promote a culture of care to support the physical and mental wellbeing of people, which impacts everyday interactions. Career Matters has mental wellbeing at its heart when supporting individuals and teams in redundancy and change situations, and chooses to partner with mental health charity Mind for its outplacement programmes, which in turn enables their wider charitable work. Financial wellbeing is also supported by our charitable partner, The Money Charity, who in turn provide financial education and support to people of all ages.

Giving Back
We believe in something beyond business success; it’s about shaping a better future for everyone.
Career Matters strives to make a difference in the local community with initiatives to support younger people and disadvantaged communities as a Volunteer Business Ambassador and Career Coach, giving them an insight into industry and preparing for the employment market at ‘Speed Networking’ events with the Education Business Partnership (EBP)
Inclusion & Diversity
We value diversity in all its forms and believe strongly in the powerful impact of individuals bringing their whole selves to work.
Julie’s own background in studying languages and culture helped her understand that diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences fuel creativity and lead to better decision-making. We enjoy learning about an individual’s differences and continue to question and challenge thinking and bias.

Environment & Sustainability
We work towards reducing the company’s impact upon the environment and more sustainable solutions for the business.
We look for ways to improve our care of the planet. As a business and as individuals, We try to reduce our carbon footprint, including driving an electric car or using public transport, using solar energy, recycling packaging and avoiding over-packaged goods, and choosing to eat less meat. I encourage customers to consider their impact upon the environment also, and support individuals considering environmental, sustainability or social impact related roles, or positions within B-Corp businesses.
