About Career Matters

Career Matters is my Fareham-based business, delivering large and small career development and outplacement programmes (usually for around 1 to 200 staff) for organisations across Hampshire, the UK and Europe, as well as 1:1 support for individuals.

I have 20 years’ experience providing outplacement, career transition support and coaching. I’m a coach with insider knowledge of executive search, recruitment and talent acquisition; with great feedback from customers – 97% would recommend us to friends and colleagues.

Career Matters cares about the people and businesses it supports and delivers an excellent service which many clients ask for again and again. This service is much more personal and tailored to the business and the individual, which leads to better results for everyone (happier exits, quicker job search, better employer brand).

My aim is simple; to deliver an excellent, personal service where clients are listened to attentively. They are given advice on how to position themselves for their market and then their skills and achievements are showcased effectively to enable them achieve their ambitions. I love helping clients to boost their confidence and achieve their career goals.

Values

Empathy

it’s important for me to understand my clients and how they are feeling about their career or business change. Empathy helps me build relationships and understand how best to support you.

Curiosity

I’m naturally inquisitive, constantly learning, and interested in human behaviour and culture. This curiosity helps me understand where I can make a difference to you or your businesses.

Equity

I believe that everyone should be treated with fairness, respect and have the same opportunities. I’ll support you to the best of my abilities and will align my practices with your individual needs.

People at Heart

Career Matters is driven to make a positive difference, and invest in relationships to deliver an altogether more human experience. I combine this with expertise and industry knowledge to create meaningful impact for both business clients and individual customers. I really care and want to support you to achieve the best outcomes for yourself or your employees, whether it’s a promotion, a career change or finding a new role after redundancy. This is an owner-managed business with a reputation to uphold, who wants to get it right. Solutions are tailored for you or your business,
which means we fit like a glove.

Expertise

I am privileged to have a 360 view of talent and recruitment. As a result, I have insider- knowledge and advice to share that will help you (or your employees) find your ideal role quicker. I have gained this through my roles as: Executive Search and Recruitment Consultant, Global Talent Acquisition Manager (in house), Advisor and Trainer in Employer Branding & Talent Acquisition, Career Coach and Mentor. I also have an MBA (Master’s Degree in Business Administration), which helps me understand the strategic value of people and their role in achieving business purpose and goals, and the ‘sweet spot’ where the individual’s purpose and goals align with the organisation. This is where people and business grow and achieve great things together.

Testimonials

“Julie introduced to me to support my career transition through outplacement services. From our very first session, Julie brought a perfect balance of empathy, compassion, and professionalism, making the challenging journey of career transition far less daunting.

Her coaching skills were exceptional, tailored to my unique situation and goals. She guided me with a structured approach that was immensely helpful, particularly in refining my CV, optimising my LinkedIn profile, and sharpening my interview skills. Her methodical and insightful advice gave me the confidence to navigate this transition successfully.

What truly stood out was Julie’s ability to listen and understand my needs, offering guidance that not only supported my professional growth but also reassured me personally during a time of uncertainty. I can confidently say that I couldn’t have achieved my next career move without her expertise and support.

I wholeheartedly recommend Julie to anyone seeking outplacement support, career coaching, or professional development services. She is an outstanding mentor and a true asset to anyone lucky enough to work with her.”
