Outplacement

What is outplacement?
Outplacement is an employer-sponsored benefit provided to employees facing redundancy or exiting an organisation with a settlement agreement.
It ensures employees can focus positively on their next career step by providing expert advice and support, helping them to confidently navigate the job market and transition into new roles quickly and effectively.
Responsible organisations recognise the importance of supporting employees at all levels and grades as they leave the business. It is recognised as an integral part of the employee lifecycle, ensuring that employees leaving the organisation feel supported as they move onto the next phase of their career and continue to act as brand advocates for the Employer.
Career Matters is a Fareham-based outplacement and career development business run by me (Julie Harding), delivering large and small programmes (usually for around 1 to 200 staff) for organisations across Hampshire, the UK and Europe, as well as 1:1 support for individuals.
I’m a career transition coach with ‘insider’ knowledge of executive search, recruitment and talent acquisition; with great feedback from customers – 97% would recommend us to friends and colleagues.
Career Matters cares about the people and businesses it supports and delivers an excellent service which many clients ask for again and again. I love helping clients to boost their confidence and achieve the next step in their career.
This service is much more personal and tailored to the business and the individual, which leads to better results for everyone (happier exits, quicker job search, better employer brand).
Benefits for Employers:
1. Maintaining Employer Brand:
Outplacement support ensures that your company’s reputation remains intact during times of transition. Demonstrating a commitment to the well-being and career development of departing employees can enhance your employer brand.
2. Increased Employee Morale:
By offering outplacement, employers show empathy and support for their workforce. This, in turn, boosts the morale of remaining employees, fostering a positive and resilient company culture.
3. Minimizing Disruption:
Outplacement services help minimize the disruption caused by a restructuring. Employees in transition can receive expert guidance and help them to regain confidence, allowing the rest of the team to stay focused on their roles and responsibilities.
4. Legal and Ethical Compliance:
Providing outplacement services demonstrates a commitment to legal and ethical responsibilities associated with workforce transitions, reducing the risk of potential legal issues.
Benefits for Employees:
1. Professional Guidance:
Career Matters’ outplacement services offer employees personalised career coaching and guidance, helping them navigate the job market effectively. This includes assistance with CV writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
2. Skill Development:
Employees receive opportunities for skill enhancement and development through workshops and masterclasses. This ensures they are well-equipped to compete in the job market, even in rapidly evolving industries.
3. Emotional Support:
Transitioning from one job to another can be emotionally challenging. Outplacement services provide a supportive environment for employees to cope with the emotional aspects of job loss and transition to new opportunities.
Tailored Services for All Levels:
Outplacement services are not one-size-fits-all; they are custom-tailored to meet the specific needs of businesses and individuals. Whether it’s a trainee, mid-level manager, or a member of the board, outplacement services can be seamlessly integrated into the restructuring process.
Flexible Delivery:
Outplacement services are delivered in a flexible manner, adapting to the preferences and needs of both employers and employees. Whether through personalised 1:1 coaching sessions or small group workshops and masterclasses, the delivery format is designed to maximise the impact of the support.
Outplacement support is a strategic investment for UK businesses undergoing a restructure. By prioritising the wellbeing and career development of departing employees, companies can navigate change more effectively, fostering a positive and resilient organisational culture.
